Our Clubs and Activities
We believe that academic success should go hand-in-hand with a rich variety of extra-curricular activities.
We believe our students should be striving to ‘be more’. Through the ‘Be More’ programme we encourage each student to find an activity that they enjoy and can excel in and work hard to ensure that a wide range of interests are catered for. Whenever there is demand for a club or activity, we will always try to find a way to make it happen. We also strongly advise our 6th form students to progress to completing the Duke of Edinburgh Award at Silver level.
Our school calendar is packed with trips and activities which take full advantage of what is already on our doorstep. Being located so close to the centre of London, we are able to provide fantastic opportunities for students to meet and work with some of the best employers in the country including Freshfields, Leigh Day and Saatchi & Saatchi.
As a Harris academy, we are part of Harris Experience. This programme has been designed for the most able students from Year 9 onwards. It exposes them to a range of cultural experiences that take their learning well beyond the curriculum. Recent examples range from learning the art of auctioneering at Christie’s to a day of lectures at the University of Oxford.
We offer some excellent opportunities regarding careers and aspirations, including Future Frontiers, The Brilliant Club and the Harris Academy St John's Wood Experience. At the same time, we will support your children with an informative and compelling PSHE programme; counselling, stress management and self-esteem sessions are further examples of support programmes.
Finally, the Be More programme offers a weekly programme of activities as part of our 'Be More' programme. This is a programme that challenges and encourages all of our students to discover new interests and develop an expertise in a particular activity or discipline. The 'Be More' programme is led mainly by staff members at Harris Academy St Johns Wood and the clubs are available at no cost to our students. We strongly recommend that every student attends a regular club within the 'Be More' programme. The current schedules are shown below as per year group.
