HBAED today donated 155 pairs of safety googles (normally used by our Science and DT department) to the NHS to help prevent their staff contracting COVID-19. Lewisham NHS put out a call to local schools who might have spare googles, and we are proud to help https://t.co/x2sfRPuHc0

We have been informed some parents have received an email stating: ‘As schools will be closing, if you're entitled to free school meals, please send your bank details and we'll make sure you're supported’. This is a scam email - do not respond, and delete immediately. https://t.co/r6cJP28dyY

Thank you to the teachers and staff in schools across the country this morning - you are part of our vital front line in the fight against coronavirus. Help schools to focus on the children who need a place most, and keep your kids at home if you can. https://t.co/Zp4lHO7gSH

We are still recruiting at this time, and would love to hear from excellent practitioners wanting to teach in an exceptional Science department with "outstanding" behaviour, great CPD opportunities and A Level teaching in an "outstanding" sixth form. https://t.co/tH5P97cppN https://t.co/WHrNzMQwMf

Rewards

We use rewards at Harris Academy St John's Wood to ensure that students are praised and encouraged at every opportunity and to ensure that personal effort, commitment and achievement is acknowledged, rewarded and recorded.

Rewards can foster a positive culture and to show that the school recognises students for their commitment to the school values of Dedication, Determination and Destiny.

Our reward system is inclusive and equitable for all students (irrespective of prior attainment, achievement or behaviour).

The rewards system supports the role of the Head of Year and Tutor in celebrating success, and helps to facilitate the awareness of achievement by other members of staff and parents.

Rewards Signatures

Our rewards system is based around the use of signatures.  Students have a page in their planner where our colleagues can acknowledge, for example, good work, a community spirit, contribution to the Academy, strong homework etc.  Reward signatures are not limited to the academic.Badges

Signatures can be awarded as follows:

  • Rewards Signature (maximum 3 per lesson)
  • Head of Year Stamp (5)
  • Headteacher (10)

Rewards totals are then tallied by the tutor, resulting in the following awards:

Key Stage 3

  • 100 - Bronze Badge (Presented in Assembly)
  • 200 - Silver Badge (Presented in Assembly)
