KS3 Assessments

Across KS3 students will be assessed in their lessons frequently by their teachers when they reach the end of a unit of work and throughout. These assessments and the feedback they receive support students in understanding how they can improve in a topic.

Twice a year students will be assessed on their learning across all subjects in a two week period. These are the whole school assessment points. 

In the first week students will sit written assessments in all of their subjects. The following week students may have practical assessments in subjects such as music, drama and art.

These assessment points take place starting in weeks commencing on the following dates.

Year 7

• Assessment Point 1: 7^th of December 2026

• Assessment Point 2: 10^th of May 2027

Year 8

• Assessment Point 1: 30^th of November 2026

• Assessment Point 2: 7^th of June 2027

Year 9

• Assessment Point 1: 7^th of December 2026

• Assessment Point 2: 10^th of May 2027

Revision booklets will be given to students and electronic versions will be published on this page (see below) 4 weeks before the assessment point.

The aim of these booklets is to build confidence and promote independent study habits. Research shows that regular, spaced revision is far more effective than last-minute cramming.

The booklets include:

• A full exam timetable 
• Topic lists for each subject
• Weekly revision tasks for the next four weeks
• A list of key vocabulary students should learn

We encourage students to complete the weekly revision tasks and use the checklist provided to track their progress. Teachers may ask students to show evidence of completed tasks during lessons.

To support your child at home:

• Help them plan when to complete their revision tasks
• Check in regularly on their progress
• Use the ‘Read-Cover-Write-Repeat’ strategy outlined in the booklet to reinforce key terms and concepts
